Phoenix Rising Resilience Workshop

The Phoenix Rising curriculum is intended to encourage the development and cultivation of resilience among students. Resilience-based behaviors may include but are not limited to: the ability to identify and maximize strengths, maintaining strong relationships that provide support, the ability to develop achievable goals and create plans to reach goals, the ability to use problem-solving skills, the practice of self-care, and the ability to adapt to change. Through these behaviors and actions, individuals can improve their functioning and the way in which they respond when faced with adversity.
The facilitator(s) of this curriculum will consistently employ an educational approach, while presenting an empathetic and respectful understanding of each group members' experiences, histories, culture, and traumas. Phoenix Rising is meant to be member-driven and group members are consistently encouraged to participate. The facilitator(s) duty of the group is to present topics, spark interest, and educate members. The facilitator(s) actions are to assist group member’s in learning and practicing healthy behaviors, new and healthy cognitive thinking skills, and tools for self-care and managing stress. These actions can be done through education, demonstration, role-plays, and discussion.  Group members are not only educated on these elements in group, but also encouraged to practice them in their daily lives.
